Glossary of terms

Personal data: All information relating to an individual, such as name, contact details, date of birth, picture, profile, medical history, family background, children's names, salary, etc. Information relating to an individual who cannot be identified by any means does not constitute personal data.

Privacy notice: A privacy notice or privacy policy provides individuals with information on the processing of personal data by an organisation. In some jurisdictions, the law sets forth minimum information such notices must contain (such as identity of the controller, purposes for which personal data are intended, identity of recipients of the data, information on the rights of the individuals, etc.). An example of privacy notices are those that often can be found on websites.

Processing (of personal data): Every type of action performed in respect of personal data, such as collecting, storing, analysing, loading, changing, making copies, sharing, archiving, deleting, etc.
