Glossary of terms

Personal data: All information relating to an individual, such as name, contact details, date of birth, picture, profile, social media usernames, medical history, family background, salary information, etc. Information that cannot be linked to an individual by any means does not constitute personal data.

Privacy notice: A privacy notice or privacy policy provides individuals with information on the processing of personal data by an organisation. In some countries or jurisdictions, the law sets out minimum information such notices must contain (such as identity of the controller, purposes for which personal data are intended to be used, identity of recipients of the data, information on the data privacy rights of the individuals, etc.). An example of privacy notices are those that often can be found on websites.

Processing (of personal data): Every type of action performed in respect of personal data, such as collecting, storing, analysing, loading, changing, remote access (including for support services), making copies, sharing, hosting, archiving, deleting, etc.
